MISSION STATEMENT:
Hope of the Grand Valley provides a hand up not a hand out, by fostering and encouraging independence for hardworking, low income families.
About us:
HOPE of the Grand Valley was established in 2008 in Mesa County. In 2009, Hope of the Grand Valley established itself as a 501c3 nonprofit corporation.
All of our programs focus on low income working parents with children ages 0-17 years old who are making a little too much to qualify for welfare assistance, such as food stamps and housing.
In our community we have a significant number of grandparents raising grandchildren due to drug and alcohol addiction. We also have grandparents raising their grandchildren due to parent’s incarceration or abandonment.
We practically support and help low income families meet basic needs when having difficulty paying all their bills; to lend life skills coaching, budgeting, parenting, resume building, and job skills services for families. To give guidance and encouragement to parents making concerted efforts in providing for their families without government assistance.
1500-2000 pounds of groceries are given out each month to families that are motivated to make every effort to stay self-sufficient without resorting to pursuing government assistance. They are rewarded for hard work and good choices and breaking the dependency cycle. Families are not only supported with food and other programs, but they have someone to turn to when life gets overwhelming.
